I would like to express my condolences to Mrs. Caldwell's family. I know that Charlie Caldwell and family will miss her very much.  My prayers go out to all the family.

Serena I will keep you and the rest of the family in my prayers. Ms Gideon was a special angel to me while under her teaching and care at Winter Park school.  Even after I moved on up in grades she always looked after me at school. Then as the years went by when ever she saw me she  spoke abd gave me a big hug and a beautiful smile. I will truly miss her and I will keep all good memories in my heart for the rest of my life until I see her once again in Heaven one day. She would have been proud to know that I am now a Minister for the Lord. God bless you all.

I will never forget Mrs. Gideon as I knew her. She was my second grade teacher and I loved so much. I did not go to Winter Park in the first grade, so when I started second grade she made me feel like I was someone. I was very short for my age and she would always tell my Mom & Dad that I was just to little to be going to school. She taught me to love math and from that year on math was my best subject in all my classes. She was so special to me and I will miss her very much. She touched so many lives as a teacher and friend. Your family will be in my prayers.

Mrs.Gideon was a very classy lady who was kind to everyone! My mother, Florence Easterling, worked for her at The Sterling House for many years. My mother loved her and loved working there! So sorry for your loss!

Mrs. Gideon, my second grade teacher was one of my favorite teachers. I later would stop in at the Sterling House and she always remember me. Please know that your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Frances was a very sweet and kind lady. It was always a pleasure working for her. May she rest in peace.

Ms. Frances was a dental hygiene patient of mine for many years. I always enjoyed seeing and talking with her. She was a kind, lovely, soft spoken lady who touched many lives. I will miss her. Sincerely, Kathy Pate

My condolences to Serena. the Caldwells, and all the family,

I believe Mrs. Gideon, as I knew her, was more than just a second grade teacher....she taught compassion and "life lessons" which she modeled.  Mrs. Gideon helped to prepare us to be good people.  Her sweetness and kindness were just what I needed as a shy child coming from a strict parochial school in the late fifties.  Mrs. Gideon was "hand-picked" for me as I made a nice transition into the public schools.  As a matter of fact, I still have our second grade class picture which includes my fellow classmate "Tommy Caldwell" as he was known in those days.  Ironically, he would become his teacher's stepson many years later.  I saw Mrs. Gideon from time to time in later years, and she was always as beautiful and elegant as I remembered her as a child.  Time didn't seem to change her looks either...she was serene and gentle which took me back to my school days with her.  I also became an educator, and her influence was surely a factor in planting a seed so many years later.  I know that her amazing career was a ministry beyond just teaching.  She was extraordinary to so many of us.  Please accept my sympathy in your great loss.  Heaven has gained an angel, although earthly life has lost one.

Mrs. Gideon was such a special lady! Because of her inspiration as my second grade teacher, I wanted to also teach second grade,however I became a nurse! She was still pleased with my choice of nursing, and  still knew my name thirty years after being my teacher. She was such a class act. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Mrs. Gideon hired my daughter, Beth Rivers, to work in the Sterling House when she was a student at UNCW.  She was so good to Beth allowing her to work hours that did not conflict with her class schedule.  After Beth graduated, Mrs. Gideon always asked about her when seeing me in public.  My sincere condolences to the family.

Hi Ms France taught me at Winter  Park school. She was like my 2ed mother at school. I really  will miss her and ther will always be a special place in my hert for her. Iam now a Minister and I know she would be proud to know that. One day I will see her again in Heaven. If I can help you in any way please feel free to contact me. Ms Gidon was a Angel from the Lord to look after me due to my eye sight All the yers goes by when I saw her she always looked beautiful and she had that smile on her face. May the Lord bless all of you and I will keep you in my prayers.

Mrs. Gideon was my second grade teacher at Winter Park School in 1960. It was a year in which I had been hospitalized with severe poison oak/poison ivy. I was in danger of missing more than 30 days before the doctor would allow me to return to school. Living on Pine Street, the school was within walking distance of our home. Many days, after school, Mrs. Gideon came to our house to teach me cursive writing so that I would not fall behind and be retained. She encouraged me (and my mother) that everything was going to be allright and we would get through it. And, of course, we did. She was amazing! I am in my 35th year in education and, as a high school principal, still remember the education, the compassion, and the support that I received from my Winter Park teachers (and Principal Jack McGee) just like Ms. Gideon. God bless her and the family. She was truly a jewel.

As neighbors and friends she was the kindest and most wonderful person. We are truly heartbroken.
