Larry lived life to the fullest, engaged in his many projects. He always was interested in others even as his health declined. Most of all he was so proud of his family. A great human being,he will be missed.

Sherri and family: I just learned of your fathers death. He gave me my first "flat top". He will be missed by many.

Larry was a good man and did so much for so many people . He willbe missed but heaven has gained a faithful one

I'll always remember going to Larry's barber shop as a child and how Dad would pay for our haircuts and "Uncle" Larry would turn around and give us some money for candy.  I will always cherish my fond memories of Uncle Larry.

I have lot my best friend in Wilmington. Larry was always upbeat, cheerful, welcoming and pleasant.  i looked forward to my monthly visits at his home  for my haircut and conversation. He did tell me of his illness, but i had complete faith that he would beat it.  I shall miss him greatly, as will the other dozens of his friends. always enjoyed our visits on his back porch.He dearly loved his grandchildren, and gave me updates on how and what they were doing. goodby, old friend.

Larrry was a very great and enthusastic man. Always upbeat and willing to lend and hand and treat everyone like family. I send my condolences to the family and will be praying for them as he has reach his final resting place of eternal life in heaven. 

He was first to cut my hair and nobody has yet to top is scissor cuts like him, even my buzz cutts are not the same. The old barbershop across from the library where he cut my hair and my dads hair for many years. He taught me many things growing up including work ethic respect and instilled me with knowledge. I remember many times cleaning up his shop helping him out thing it was fun but there was a lesson to it. The old fancy cash register and old safe I pretended to crack. Those nice chairs always had a booster for me. HAHA I can think of so many memories of the great times. I am again praying for the family to celebrate his eternal life in heaven with his father the lord Jesus. Amen/

Sherri, Gregg and Bryan: As you know you dad and I shared a lot of time in the Boy Scouts.  He had a tremendous impact on an untold number of young people including me.  I still use the hiking staff I was allowed to cut off his aunt's property in Wilmington.  I guess it is about 40 years old.  I prefer that old piece of wood verses the new hiking poles.  It reminds me of the folks that were important in my life.  We will miss your dad, but his legacy of helping young people will continue through all those folks he helped.  May God bless you and give peace and understanding during this time.  Larry is hiking in heaven!

Larry was twelve years old when I married his older brother,
J.D..Jr.(Sonny).We watched his many accomplishments as he grew up.Some of our favorite memories are his "lucky socks"
Right after he started boxing we gave him several pairs of a
certain brand of athletic socks.He called them his lucky socks.
He won many matches wearing them,Once after winning an important match,his opponent came to him and said"If I had felt 
better,I would have beaten you.To which Larry replied,If I had  
felt betterI would have beaten you more..
Larry was a remarkable person and we were proud to call him 
our Brother!He left a great legacy.And many who loved him.
