WOLCOTT- Douglas P. Coley II, husband of Michelle (Santopietro) Coley died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home early Thursday morning. He was only 56 years old. Doug was a transplant to Wolcott from Alabama at the age of 9. He was the son of the late Douglas Coley and Yolanda”Sissy” (Valdez) Sterling of Orlando, FL. He graduated from Wolcott High School in 1982. He was a salesman for Lindquist Steels Inc. for the last 7 years. Doug also served as the Municipal Agent for Mayor Tom Dunn and was known for his mischievous sense of humor. In spite of being a jokester and a candy stealer, he was hard working and loved. He enjoyed the outdoors and camping. He was a member of the Wolcott Congregational Church. He was also a proud member of he NRA. What Doug loved most was to laugh and make people laugh. Doug loved his family, especially his best friend and wife Michelle of 21 years. He was very proud of his son Douglas P. Coley III of Wolcott, and was a great father to Michelle’s children David Stasonis of Lake Worth, FL, Amanda Hanson and her husband Richard of Wolcott. He is also survived by his step father Anthony Sterling of FL, his sisters Amanda and Samanda Posila and his niece Yolanda of New Haven and his mother-in-law Pam Walsh, brother-in-law Robert and wife Kelley Santopietro of Wolcott, sister-in-law Marcie Hamel of Oakville and several nieces and nephews. When we met Doug, he was a young, and ambitious man ready to take on just about anything in the world with great passion , sensitivity and kindness. His award winning personality, his huge smile, his highly recognized community presence, and his commitment to family and friends, is a testimony of his love for his earthly family and his genuine respect for all lives. May he rest in eternal peace and we are sure he will bring a ton of smiles and lots of laughter to those who greet him in heaven. We send our thoughts and prayers to Yolanda, and Tony, Sandy, Mandy, Yoli and Themoko and all wonderful family members and friends.

Hi Michelle
I am Doreen's friend-Pam. I just want to give you my sincere condolences. I would chat with Doug when I worked at LaFortuna many years back and I know he started hello right into a joke. He helped me make some lawn equipment decisions at the time! I am sure your home was filled with lots of laughter. I can see he was a wonderful man and you both a great couple. I am so sorry for you and your family and will remember you all in my prayers.
God Bless

My deepest condolences to Michelle; Doug III, children and family.
Doug was such a funny and wonderful guy. I worked with him a couple years in the early 2000's and enjoyed everyday as well as Doug being a former neighbor;; he would occasionally stop in to my workplace for business; which turned into pleasure. His sense of humor and integrity will never be forgotten. Heaven gained another good angel. RIP Doug...you were one of a kind and will be sadly missed, but we will always laugh at your jokes when we think of you !

Having three brothers who called me Sissy carried over to my mother, Doug’s grandmother, who continued to always call me Sissy. Doug began calling me Sissy. It has endured for many years! I wouldn’t know who he was talking to if he said mom, mother or any derivation! He was my precious boy who grew into a wonderful man who became a husband, father, friend or acquaintance. Never did Doug meet a stranger even at an early age. He would walk right up to a stranger, put his hand out and say, “Hi, I’m Doug Coley, nice to meet you.” My parents, Rev. and Mrs. Armando Valdez, doted on him! My three brothers, Jack, Randy, Mike Valdez had a close relationship with Doug. Football was the name of the game! Auburn all the way!
For me, the sun always rose for Doug! You left me way too soon! My love will never waver for you! I will always be your Sissy!

If you will excuse the analogy, Doug Coley 11 was a great egg! He was hatched with love and grew into an alpha male with his own wife, son and family. He manifested wit, devotion to duty and respect from his extended family as well as peers and his mother and step father. Long live a Prince!

Michelle, Amanda, David, and Doug Jr.,
First let my express my deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to you all.
I was lucky enough to share an office with Doug while he was the Municipal Agent and I was Mayor Dunn's Assistant. There was NEVER a day that he didn't make me laugh, with his jokes, snarky comments, or faces he would make while I was trying to be serious. The appetite on that Man was astounding. Lol...he loved to eat and not just candy. There are too many instances to tell, but I don't know how many times he would come to me with a sheepish look on his face and I knew he said something he shouldn't have. I would say to him "I swear that you open your mouth to switch feet." I was the receiptient of many of his pranks, but we got him back with "The Wallaby" prank. He didn't expect it and it kept him on his toes. I missed him when he left as an office mate, but was lucky to keep him as my friend. I will miss you Doug, fly high, be at peace, and God Bless you.💕💕

I loved Doug and we have been friends since high school and we both have a great sense of humor that is why I know he would not be upset with me for saying that it would have to be a very very cold day in hell for me to donate a dime to Trump.
Love you Doug

My sincere condolences to the entire Coley family. I went to high school with Doug and he was a great guy with an incredible sense of humor. Our high school Civics teacher, Mr Santopietro, signed my yearbook and suggested it was me that caused all the trouble, telling jokes in the back of his class. Mike Ciavarella and I were just laughing, it was Doug telling all the jokes!
May you find comfort in knowing how many lives Doug touched in such a positive way. May he Rest In Peace.

I remember Doug when I was a kid only because he hung out with my brother Tommy (Wompy). Fast forward, he was married to my friend Marcie’s sister. I took over Doug’s job as Municipal Agent and his only concern was where and what office had the best snacks. So in honor of Doug, I stocked up my office with the best candy and snacks possible. He was such a funny guy and had so much to offer. He has a beautiful and amazing family that will truly miss him but I hope they take comfort knowing they are not alone. I am so happy I had the opportunity to meet Doug. His spirit will live in all of us. My love and prayers to the entire Coley family.
Love,

Michelle and family,
Doug is and will always be remembered as a stand up kind of guy. Anyone who knew him loved him...Mike has always referred to Doug as a brother from another mother...
We all shared so many good times, now memories to cherish and laugh about as Doug would want us to...Another late friend of ours, Roger is now reminiscing with Doug on those special times... Life is short and not always fair...taken way to soon.
We will miss you Doug and till we meet again.

Doug was the husband of one of my dearest friends who also became my friend. Although I didn’t see him often, I always knew that when I did, there would be some devilish teasing from him. That is one of the things I loved about him! He was a good man, Doug, may you enjoy many beef stew dinners .... the one thing I promised I would make for you and never did. I will never think of beef stew without a sweet memory of you! I am heartbroken for his beautiful family! Till we meet again dear friend!

I grew up down the street from Doug and we were the same age and we were friends since high school and we were still friends until this day and whenever I would see Doug he always had a huge smile on his face. He was a good guy who never hurt a soul and he had a big heart and we could use a lot more people like him in America these days. Going to be missed, until we meet again Doug, your friend spank.

To Doug’s Family,
I’m so very sad to hear about Dougs passing. I started work at the Wolcott Town Hall in 2005. Doug was the Municipal Agent at that time. He made the next 3 years a pleasure. He would have us all laughing all day. He also had a serious caring side. I became so very fond of him from the beginning. I’m having a hard time understanding that he is no longer with us.
My sincerest condolences to his entire family.
