Gertrude was also known as Gert and Gertie, and especially called “Hon” by her beloved husband, Michael Kuibeda Jr. whom has been married to for 61 years with deep Godly love.
Gertie was born in Waterbury, Connecticut. She graduated Bunker Hill Grammer School and Levenworth High School in 1952. After graduation, she was employed at Wheeler Wire for many years before she met Michael and got married in 1961. She raised 3 beautiful children, Michael Kuibeda III, James Lee Kuibeda Sr. and Trudi Ann Kuibeda, along with only one grandson, James Lee Kuibeda Jr. Her children and grandson will always treasure the love she showed them, her motherly wisdom, the way she nurtured them, as well as her deep faith in God, and her kindness and caring nature that she instilled in them all. She will be sorely missed indefinitely and entirety.
She was the greatest deaf advocate for her two deaf children, Michael III and Trudi Ann while they got the school education at American School of the Deaf, West Hartford, Connecticut. The education for her children, led to her employment at the public school system. After her 3 grown children got their own wings, she worked as a paraprofessional at 3 different public schools for the City of Waterbury – Sprague School, Maloney Magnet School then for a few years prior to her retirement at West Side Middle School. Her always extended her sweetness and love toward all children at the schools, especially those who were deaf, handicapped or special needs.
Gertie is survived by her beloved husband, Michael, her 3 children, and grandson, sister Marion Murolo, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her parents Anthony Stango Sr. and Josephine (Farina) Stango, siblings Anthony M. Stango and Marcia Marie Dunlap.
She enjoyed spending time with family especially at Lake George, New York for 14 wonderful years. She also cherished time with just her close-knit daughter, Trudi Ann, traveling wherever she wanted to go.

A Celebration of Gertrude’s life will be held on Thursday, July 21st, at 10:30am at the Highpoint Baptist Church, 450 Wolcott Rd., Wolcott.
