Born on August 15, 1949, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Mary was the daughter of the late Andrew and Margaret (Turcsany) Skarupa. She was a proud graduate of Notre Dame High School, Class of 1967.
Mary was the beloved wife of Theodore "Ted" DePault, with whom she shared 39 wonderful years of marriage until his passing. Together they built a loving home centered on family, tradition, and caring for others.
Known for her kind heart and nurturing spirit, Mary operated a home daycare for many years. What began as caring for the children of family and friends grew into a thriving daycare where she helped shape and develop the minds of up to ten children at a time. Countless families benefited from her patience, compassion, and dedication.
Mary's greatest joy in life was her family. She especially cherished Christmas Eve celebrations, gathering loved ones together to share laughter, memories, and the traditional Hungarian dish, Sutni Szalona. She created a warm and welcoming home where everyone felt loved.
A woman of many talents, Mary was an avid knitter and crocheter, a gifted seamstress, gardener, painter, and exceptional cook. She famously sewed her own wedding gown as well as all of the dresses for her bridal party. Her family will fondly remember her delicious stuffed cabbage, the chicken cordon bleu she lovingly prepared each year for her daughter's birthday, and her treasured recreation of a relative's famous lasagna recipe. Mary also loved to sing, a gift she proudly passed on to her daughter.
Mary is survived by her loving daughter, Kristin DePault; her brothers, Joseph Skarupa and his wife, Betsy, and Emery Skarupa and his wife, Marsha; her sisters, Carol Mohan, Ann Petriello, and Jean Sutherland and her husband, Scott; Sisters-in-law Linda Skarupa and Gail Skarupa and brother-in-law Gordon Bulkley and many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Theodore "Ted" DePault, her siblings Margaret, Anita, Andrew, Louise, and Michael and her brothers-in-law James Kilkenny, James Mohan and Bernie Doran.
