Thomas John Gorcyca, 51, passed away on July 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 28, 1974, in New Britain, Connecticut, Tom was the cherished son of John and Jane (Grady) Gorcyca.
Tom was the beloved husband of Kelly Barrows and a devoted father to Nathaniel and Anthony Gorcyca, who were the center of his world. He dedicated his life to providing for his family and took great pride in creating a home filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
A 1992 graduate of Bristol Central High School, Tom built a respected career as a Senior Lab Technician with Assa Abloy in New Haven, Connecticut. He was known for his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence.
Tom found joy in the simple pleasures of life and had a deep love for the outdoors. Whether he was fishing on quiet lakes and freshwater streams, boating, relaxing at the beach, tending his garden, or meticulously caring for his lawn, he was happiest surrounded by nature. He was the family's "Mr. Fix-It," always ready to tackle a project or lend a helping hand. His goofy sense of humor, spontaneous spirit, and habit of singing the latest TikTok songs or his favorite 90’s rap song brought smiles to everyone around him. Tom had a way of making you feel happy just by being in his presence. Tom had a remarkable gift for making friends wherever he went and was truly the light in every room he entered.
In addition to his loving wife Kelly, and sons Nathaniel and Anthony, Tom is survived by his parents, John and Jane (Grady) Gorcyca; his sister, Annmarie Sirotnak, and her husband, Elliot and their sons Ethan and Devin; his sisters in law, Kristen Barrows, Kim Parisi and her husband, Mike and their daughter Bria, her wife Bri and their son Nick and his wife Nicole; along with many extended family members, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know and love him. He also leaves his fur-son, his family dog, Max who was his companion and gave him so much love and comfort.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 3-6 p.m. at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 690 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, CT 06716. A memorial service will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m.
