She was born to Donato and Clelia (Pizzino) LaGamba on September 14, 1933. Her sisters were Theresa Gooding (decd. 1989) and Nancy O’Brien (decd. 2015). In 1955 mom married the love of her life, Alphonse “Big Al” Miele (decd. 2002), a pharmacist and together had two children. Michael Miele and Diane (Miele) Shannon and her husband Scott.
Mom was known by many names: Argentina, Jean, Momma Jean, Mommy, Grandma, MeMa, Gina Bella but she was just “Mom” to us. A woman who was loved by so many and brought joy to everyone she met along the way. She didn’t have a mean bone in her body.
She loved to travel with our dad and her friends, was always smiling, dancing (she had a signature move lol) and loving life along the way. Mom lived for all her grandchildren. Gregory (29), Nicole (27) Eric (25) Shannon and Michael Miele Jr. (18). She always made time for them whether it was playing in the backyard, going to school functions, soccer/baseball games or feeding them until they rolled out of the house. Her home was always open to anyone who wanted to stop by. Aunt Rosie was her side kick, chauffer and friend. Mom knew Aunt Rosie since she was 13 years old and were together until the end.
I would like to acknowledge some amazing people in mom’s life. Her two caregivers, Ms. Pepe and Ms. Regina. They were kind, loving and supportive to both my mom and the whole family. Also, the entire Calvary Home Hospice Team that came over and walked us thru everything. They were so professional and compassionate. They will be missed.
Yes, it’s unbelievably sad to lose someone as good as her but there are so many amazing memories of mom, so let’s celebrate the way she lived!
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association with the hopes that we find a cure.
