Patricia was born March 29, 1930 in Hawthorne NJ: daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth Baer. A graduate of Hawthorne High School, she went on to work for Lont & OverKamp then Banker's Limited. In 1951, Patricia married her love, Vincent Massaro. They were blessed with five children and enjoyed 48 years of marriage.
Patricia was an active volunteer throughout her life, both in Totowa, NJ, and at her summer home at Culver Lake, Branchville, NJ. She actively served in various leadership positions in the Totowa PAL, the Totowa Elementary School PTA, the Women's VFW Post 10104 Auxiliary, the Culver Lake Women's Club and the Culver Lake Normanoch Association Board. Her diligent cataloging of Culver Lake history is extensive and spans several decades. She had fond memories working with her sons as Den Mother for St James' RC Church's Boy Scout Troops and as Leader to the Miracle Workers 4-H Group.
Patricia is survived by her children, Mark (Wanda), Jackie Burdick (Gary), James (Kristen Conry), Nancy (Kim DeBonte), nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother Robert; mother, Ruth; husband, Vincent; son, Gregory and grandchildren Colette, Mary and William.
Patricia was an extraordinary mother, loving wife and a nurturing spirit. Her smile could light up a room and she embodied everything good in this world. Patricia’s positive outlook, generous soul and loving nature left a mark on those she loved and those who loved her. She was richly blessed by a life full of good friends and a family who adored her. She will be remembered for her patience, creativity, caregiving, work ethic, generosity and tolerance. Patricia was loved beyond measure and will be missed indefinitely.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 9:00 am-11:00 am at the Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main Street, Branchville, NJ followed by an 11:30 am Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 210 US 206 Sandyston, NJ. Interment will follow at Walpack Cemetery for immediate family members only.
