Jean was born on February 5th, 1931 in Flushing, New York to Anthony and Elizabeth Guido and raised by Frank Seper and Elizabeth after the passing of Anthony. Jean spent much of her young life in College Point, New York attending St. Fidelas Grammar School and Flushing High School. She married Airforce Sergeant Robert (Bob) A. Worden on August 1, 1954 at St. Mary’s Church in Treasure Island, Florida who preceded her death in 2018. While Bob was enlisted, the couple were stationed in Puerto Rico for several years and after fulfilling their military duties, they moved several times throughout Connecticut and New York, finally settling in Cazenovia to raise five children.
Jean was an amazing person, loving wife, mother, care taker and friend who touched the hearts of everyone she met. Behind her sparkling green eyes was a soul that offered love and compassion to all. She often volunteered or worked part time with her favorite local shops and organizations providing critically needed creative input and services. She loved traveling with her husband Bob with their pop-up camper traversing the United States seeing sites and visiting family along the way. Jean had an amazing green thumb and always loved spending warm summers in her garden bringing it to life. During the winter months she enjoyed singing with the choir at church and knitting all sorts of beautiful gifts for friends and family. She had a passion to stay fit using day to day chores as her workout routine (e.g. shoveling her driveway at 6am after 12” of snowfall when she was 88 years old!) Jean had a tender heart for animals and loved every pet that ever set foot in or near her household. Her children especially remember her as beautiful, bright, loving, quirky, witty, humble, the animal whisperer, prolific photographer, crochet queen, singer, dancer and garden guru. Jean had the ability to make something out of nothing, truly a genius inventor. She was a straight talker with a mind like a steel trap, who was strong as a bull and never afraid to speak her mind if necessary. Although she ate like a bird, she always made sure everyone was taken care of and fed a wonderful home cooked meal. She enjoyed her occasional “brown booze” and ginger during visits from neighbors. Jean lived a life of passion, grit and integrity and will be dearly missed.
Jean is survived by her five children, Kathy Baumbach and her husband Dan of Candler, NC; Karen Liebman and her husband Larry of Danbury, CT; Gale McArdle and her husband Terry of Canandaigua, NY; Deanna Worden of Austin, TX; Michael Worden and his wife Kelley of Austin, TX; thirteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Elizabeth, step-father Frank, and sister Trudy Belinski.
A celebration of life service will be scheduled and announced at a later date due to COVID-19.
