He was predeceased by the love of his life and best pal, Eleanor Zapf Heinlein. He was also predeceased by his sisters and brother in laws, Betty (Drew) Rohrer, Jane (Russ) Bonjorno, and Joan (Don) Neitz.
He is survived by his children, Mary (Timothy) Jones, Donna (Chuck) Graham, Joseph (Wendy) Rausch, and Ann Millet. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was educated at St. Monica grammar school, Aquinas Institute, and St. Bonaventure University. He often stated ‘you can’t beat a good Catholic education’. George served in the Korean Conflict. He was proud to have graduated from officer’s candidate school at Ft. Worth Texas and commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. George retired from Taylor Instrument in 1990 after 35 years, some of which were as manager of cost accounting. He was a long time softball player, bowler, fisherman, woodworker, hunter, gardener, and sports fan. Since 1967 he enjoyed time at a cabin he built on Sugar Creek in the beautiful hills of Ossian. Monthly, he enjoyed Manhattans with retired co-workers, Aquinas classmates, and nephews. After retiring, George was involved with volunteering at St. Monica Church where he was a parishioner since baptism in 1929. George also volunteered as an AARP tax counselor for over 20 years. He was very enthusiastic about volunteering in the wood working shop at Holy Childhood and Hope Hall.
The family would like to thank the Gables of Brighton and their wonderful aide services for making George a part of their family.

A celebration of his life will take place at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Aquinas Institute or Hope Hall.
