Born in New Waterford on August 28th 1954 to Dougald Kennedy and Rose (MacArthur) both of Inverness, Kevin shared his laughter and love of family and home with everyone.
Predeceased by both parents and infant brother Stephen (1947) as well as his favourite lady, Dyney Gillis. Kevin is survived by his siblings and their families, and his cat; Dougald (Marijke) and his children Stephanie, Rebecca and Peter (Erin) (and their mother Monica); Corrine (Mike Donnelly) and their children Chrissy (Ale) and Sean; Gordie and Jan and his children Gordon (Kerry), Ellen (John), Megan (Brett) and Steven (and their mother Johnena); Norma and her daughter, Verna; and his beloved cat Guinness.
A graduate of Inverness High School, Kevin attended St Mary’s University, Nova Scotia Community College and numerous other education and learning institutes as his life and work experiences took him and his stories through many different twists and turns. His fine eye for detail probably provided as many stories for his co-workers over the years as it did for creating all the detailed stories that he would tell of them, no matter how long it took to get to the point of the story. As a great enthusiast of cars, bikes, food, books, bad cowboy movies and anyone’s pet that was within reach, Kevin was always able to make those around him feel like their interests were his interests.
He appreciated the community found in the KOC Inverness Council 2298, the Ceilidh Trail CB Club, and in the many old friends and relatives that were there for him when he returned to the Island.
Special thank you’s go out to his many good friends; The McMasters, Campbells, Feehans and the MacDougalls, as well as many cousins especially Marilyn and Jane. The folks at the Inverness Hospital and the Dialysis Clinic, the diabetic staff and his doctor’s with a special thank you for Dr. Jean M. MacLachlan.
A private graveside service was held on Monday, May 9 at 4 p.m. in Stella Maris Parish Cemetery, Inverness, with Funeral Mass held in Stella Maris Church, Inverness, on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
In Kevin’s memory donations may be made to one of three charities that were close to his heart; MillRoad Social Enterprises, Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or the Inverness area group Citizens Caring for Animals.
