She was born in Bastrop, Texas on April 27, 1930 to Celestino and Sarah Espinoza Guerrero.
Mercedes was a loving mother grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother who was very devout in her faith praying the rosary on a daily basis paying particular attention to pray to mother Mary for all of her family, to give them health and safety in their daily endeavors. She was a faithful Catholic woman, a member of Saint Ann’s Catholic Church of Colorado City and a member of the Cursillistas. In her spare time she enjoyed dancing (especially the twist), cooking and making quilts, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the favorite one being left up for a heated debate. She wasn’t much of a driver but tried her hardest to drive that ’67 Camaro she had to pick up her grandchildren grinding gears the whole way. Her warm smile and kind heart will leave many of fond memories and lessons in faith will be passed down for generations to come.
Mercedes is the mother of 17, grandmother of 57, great-grandmother of 122, and great-great grandmother of 47 children. A host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends also survive.
