I was born December 16, 1938, in Seattle. I grew up near Green Lake and attended Roosevelt High School--serving as editor of the school yearbook and graduating in 1957.
My parents, Harry Walter Edwards and Ann Florence Edwards (Johnson), met in Seattle during the Great Depression while each worked in the hotel business. My father had moved to Seattle in the late 1920’s from Red Lodge, Montana after the death of his father. My mother moved to the city from Alberta, Canada to join her sisters.
I graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1961. I was a member of the Chi Psi Fraternity, and kept in touch with some of my fraternity brothers for sixty years.
For thirty-five years I worked in the mortgage banking business in Seattle. My career started at the Equitable Life Insurance Company, followed by Coast Mortgage (later Rainer Mortgage), where I eventually served as Executive Vice President.
I married Karen Koon in 1985 and for the rest of my life resided in Seattle’s University District.
Over the years our travels took us from the Arctic to Antarctica, with visits to all seven continents, fifty countries and every corner of the United States.
Some of my most treasured times were spent at Lake Ki in Snohomish County, where my parents owned a cabin starting in the early 1960’s. Fishing, boating and playing cribbage with my father, sons and grandchildren were traditions that spanned four generations. I was able to celebrate my 82nd birthday at Lake Ki this past December.

For Brad and Karen, the University of Washington was a focus of many activities. Brad served on the Advisory Board for the UW School of Drama and with Karen supported several UW academic and arts programs. Brad and Karen were avid Husky fans and rarely missed a football game, including several Rose Bowls. They were season ticket holders for both men’s and women’s basketball, and followed all Husky sports closely.
They enjoyed Seattle’s cultural scene, attending numerous productions at the Seattle Rep, ACT Theater, and the 5th Avenue Theater. They were long time supporters of the Seattle Symphony and the National Nordic Museum. Brad was a Life Member of the Washington Athletic Club.
Brad is survived by Karen, his wife and companion of thirty-five years. Other survivors include his son Matthew Bradley Edwards and daughter-in-law Monica Lucia Edwards of Kenmore, Washington, son Peter John Edwards and partner Miel Rohana Corbett of Portland, Oregon, and his first cousin, Anne Stinn, of Edmonton, Alberta. Brad loved and enjoyed the precious memories made with his four grandchildren: Anthony, Eddie, Alexis and Susannah.
Brad requested that no services be held. Inurnment and arrangements by Acacia Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Remembrances may be made to the Chi Psi Fraternity or the Athletic Department at the University of Washington via the Huskies All in Fund.
