Joseph D. Jackson, 73, of East Hartford, loving husband of 47 years of Denise Ann (Veilleux) Jackson, peacefully entered into eternal life with his caring family by his side on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Waterbury on December 13, 1947, a son of the late Joseph S. and Josephine (O’Keefe) Jackson, he had been a resident of East Hartford since 1977. After graduating technical high school, Joe was a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, Joe was employed as a maintenance/custodial worker by the state of Connecticut -Judicial Division and formerly by the town of Glastonbury Board of Education. Joe was an avid fisherman who loved vacationing with his family and friends at Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport, ME for the past 12 years. He also liked cooking, gardening, and watching his beloved New York Yankees and New York Rangers. Most of all, Joe enjoyed his time spent with his wife, children, granddaughter, and best friends.
In addition to his devoted wife Denise, Joe is survived by a son, Christopher S. Jackson and his wife Erin of Glastonbury; a daughter, Amy Jackson of Framingham, MA; and one granddaughter who was the love of his life, Gabrielle Jackson of Glastonbury. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Darlene Hollister and her husband Donald of Chicopee, MA; two nephews, Ryan Hollister and his wife Ashley of Texas, Adam Hollister and his significant other, Sophia Corea, of Chicopee, MA; two dear friends, Todd Charpentier of Hebron, Jimmy Levesque and his wife Linda of East Hartford; and several other friends and former co-workers.
Funeral service will be Saturday (February 13th) at 10:30 am at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial with full military honors will follow at Veteran’s Memorial Field #2 – Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Saturday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 am. Due to the current health pandemic, everyone is asked to please wear a face covering and adhere to all of the regulations.
