Freddie James Bush was born on March 5, 1950 to Elvie B. Bush and Callie Lillie LaPrade-Bush in Christian County, Kentucky. He graduated from Christian County High School in 1969. From there he went to Dayton, Ohio and lived near his aunt Bobbie Pettigrew and worked different jobs. He returned to Hopkinsville and purchased a small home. In 1977, he worked as a janitor for the Kentucky school system and retired after 20 years. His mother passed in 1993 while living in Texas. In 2000, he sold his home and moved to Killeen, Texas to be closer to his sister, Teresa McVicker and her family. During his time in Texas he had a successful janitorial and lawn care service while also working as a crossing guard for Killeen Independent School District. He was able to purchase his home in 2014. His favorite poem was Invictus by William E. Henry, which he memorized in middle school with the encouragement of his teacher and for the rest of his life he could recite it on command. The poem expresses overcoming the trials that life brings and coming out on the other side even stronger. Freddie had a love for Westerns, as well as, playing checkers and pool. He passed on February 6, 2021 at AdventHealth Central Texas Hospital from pneumonia and kidney failure after a short hospital stay. Gone but not forgotten. He leaves behind a sister, Teresa McVicker, and a niece, Sarah McVicker, cousins, aunts, uncles, and beloved friends.
