Larry was born in Talladega, Alabama on November 30, 1948 to William Edward Freeman and Ruby Runette Strickland Freeman. He had two brothers and a sister (Lawarence, Ray and Gay). He attended Talladega High School and married his high school sweetheart Patsy Anne Wheatt. He was drafted in 1969 and enlisted into the US Navy. Where he excelled as a US Servicemen. He retired from the US Navy in 1992 after 23 years as a Master Chief Petty Officer. Anybody who knew him knows he was a true patriot who loved his country.
He and Pat have two daughters Deborah Cowart (Randall) and Kimberly Hill (Joe) and 6 grandchildren (Brandon, Ashleigh, Kayla, Cameron, Andrew and Emily) and two great grandchildren (Levi and Lexi) He loved hunting, fishing, motorcycles, fast cars and woodworking , but his greatest passion was shooting skeet. He was a life member of the Jacksonville Gun Club, a member of the National Rifle Association and a competition skeet shooter for the US Navy. Larry was also a member of the Masons.
Larry was preceded in death by both his parents William Edward Freeman and Ruby Strickland Freeman, his sister Gay Freeman Hamby, his brother Ray Freeman and his granddaughter Ashley Elaine Cowart. He is survived by his wife Patsy Anne Wheatt Freeman, his two daughters Deborah Cowart (Randall) and Kimberly Hill (Joe), his grandchildren Brandon, Kayla, Cameron, Andrew and Emily, his two great grandchildren Levi and Lexi, his brother Lawarence, a numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
His service will be held on Feb 25, 2021 at 11:00 am at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home at 7242 Normandy Blvd. Jacksonville Florida 32205, Inurnment at 1:30 pm at Jacksonville National Cemetery 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville Florida 32218.
