Alberta passed away peacefully at home with her husband by her side on Feb 16,2021. Alberta and Eljay met in 1969 and started a life together in 1970 that lasted 50 years. They had a blended family of 4 children, Linda, Lynette, Deborah and Sean. Alberta graduated from Julia Richman high school in New York City and shortly thereafter wert to work as a civilian in the New York City Police Dept. She transferred to the NYC Dept of Human Resources-Social Service Division. Alberta was promoted many times and became the Administrative Assistant to the Director of the Manhattan-Brooklyn Social Services Division. While still working, Alberta achieved an Associate Degree from City University-Medgar Evans College and proceeded to get a Bachelor's Degree in 1989 from City University of NY, and finally a Master's Degree from Brooklyn College-City University of NY in 1993. Alberta retired in 1994 after 25 years of service with Human Resources. Eljay retired in 1995 and they chose Las Vegas as their home. It was in Las Vegas that Alberta found an extension of her proudest time of her life from being a mother and grandmother by becoming a teacher in the Clark County school system teaching Kindergarten through 3rd grade. She could never get enough of being with children, as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her other passion was the church and her love for Jesus Christ. She found that Word of Life Christian Church satisfied all her spiritual needs. Pastors David and Vicki Shearin and members welcomed her with open arms and warm hearts. She became an active member of the church greeters Ambassador ministry and the Ladies Lifestyle ministry and remained a dedicated church member for the next 20 years.
