Mary Margaret Thompson passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, February 21, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Conroe, Texas. Mary Margaret was born on October 21, 1955 to Floyd Emerson Love and Joyce Wagers Love. She attended schools in Houston and Conroe, graduating in 1973 from Conroe High School, where she was a Golden Girl. Mary Margaret received her bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University and her teaching certificate from Sam Houston State University. She taught English at McCullough High School for several years. Mary Margaret was a loving wife to Bill and a loving mother to Anne-Marie and Will. In later years, she welcomed the arrival of her grandson Emmett, who brought her great joy. Mary Margaret was a strong Christian and served her Lord in many ways, including teaching at First Baptist Academy in Conroe, where she had a positive impact on countless students during her 25 years of teaching. Mary Margaret was an avid reader and served in the church library at First Baptist. She enjoyed participating in the greeting ministry and in the Ladies Friendship Organization. Mary Margaret loved music, and was active in the Friends of the Conroe Symphony and Young Texas Artists, and assisted at First Baptist with children’s choirs and with the handbell choir. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved to explore new places, and over the years traveled to various countries in Europe, Africa, and Asia, and to many destinations in North America. Mary Margaret will be remembered by her friends and family for her kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit.
Mary Margaret was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Emerson Love; stepfather, Glenn Emmett Musselman II; and grandmother, Lois Thompson. She is survived by her husband William B. Thompson, Jr.; daughter Anne-Marie Friedman and husband Nick of Syracuse, NY; son William B. Thompson III and wife Chelsea of Hitchcock, Texas; grandson Emmett Howard Friedman of Syracuse, NY; mother, Joyce Musselman of Conroe, Texas; and brother Dan Love and wife Robbie of Willis, Texas.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday February 24, 2021 at 10 am at First Baptist
Church Conroe. Visitation will be from 9 am to 10 am. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe
