Vernon was born August 4, 1934 in St. Paul, MN to Bruno and Adelaide Mirsch where he grew up with two brothers and two sisters. He was a graduate of Cretin High School in 1951 and went to the University of Minnesota for two years prior to serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, 1954-1956.
In 1957 Vernon married his wife of 48 years, Lois DeMarre. They raised three children and resided in St. Paul where Vernon had a career of over 40 years in finance and real estate.
Vernon devoted his life to loving and nurturing his family. He often preached: “train your mind, take care of your body, and have fun.” He certainly practiced this in his own life as he was quick witted, quick to laugh, disciplined in health and enjoyed the company of family and friends. An avid card player, reader and sports fan, Vernon will be remembered for his ability to bring a smile to anyone’s face through his engaging anecdotes and keen sense of humor.
Vernon was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; parents, Bruno and Adelaide; siblings: Marion Paul, Marvin Mirsch, Marlene Marschall, and Marlin Mirsch.
He is survived by his children, Julie Murphy (Tom) of Eagan; Tom Mirsch (Diane) of Rochester; and John Mirsch (Jodie) of McGregor; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, loving relatives and many friends.
