Alberto “Berty” Gandia was born in Kawit, Cavite, Philippines to Amado and Natalia Gandia. He was the eldest of ten children. He is survived by his wife, Honorata “Atang” Gandia and they married in 1957 for 64 years. He is also survived by his six children: Ernesto, Gina, Jose Rael, Julieta, Nancy, and Susan, nine grandchildren: Janice May, Janine, Jay, Jomel, Joyce Ann, Kenard, Mariel, Paula, and Ranze, and his two great-grandchildren: Kyrie and Jacob.
Berty had many passions including cooking, fishing, and playing his guitar. But most of all, it was family he loved and cherished the most. He was a selfless individual who made sure his family was taken care of first. Even when he was sick, or not feeling well, he made sure his family had eaten and got their rest. He was the type of person who gave up his possessions for his friends and family to help them in the Philippines.
