She was born in Chicago on October 15, 1927 to Eva (Guginski) and Costan Campo. Muriel was predeceased by her sister Constance Segal and her brother Arthur Campo.
Muriel was the loving and devoted wife of Thomas K. Heyn for 67 years. They were always together and enjoyed many good times and trips over the years. Their married life provided many adventures living in Texas, France, New Jersey and finally in South Carolina.
Muriel loved her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker who took great pride in the beauty of her house and property and worked hard to religiously maintain them. She was the hostess of many a family holiday gathering, cooking and baking many specialties. Muriel delighted in gardening and took pleasure in watching the birds and animals in the yard. She truly appreciated nature’s wonders and would stop to smell the roses. One of Muriel’s favorite pastimes was shopping. She loved to browse the stores looking at the latest fashions and finding a good bargain was the icing on the cake. Throughout her life, her outfits were always well coordinated and accessorized.
Muriel was a long time parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church in North Myrtle Beach. Until recently, she was active in the Ladies Guild and was a crafter for many years. Her many creations were sold at the annual Christmas Bazaar.
In addition to her husband, Muriel is survived by her sister, Irene Rutledge of San Jose, CA, her daughter and son-in-law Diane and Robert Moore of North Haledon, NJ, her grandson , Ian Moran of Woodcliff Lake, NJ and great grandson, Ethan Moran. Also survived by nieces, Erica Rutledge of Mountain View, CA, Sabrina Segal Granati of Las Vegas, NV and nephew, Dale Campo of Clayton, of North Carolina.
Muriel’s bright presence will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her spirit will remain with all who knew her.
A funeral mass will be held Thursday, April 8 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, 1100 8th Ave N, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582. Inurnment will take place immediately following in the Columbarium and Prayer Garden at the church.
