Despite difficult losses, Doris was inspiring and resilient. She was kind, gracious and generous, a good cook, and well known for her delicious oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies. She enjoyed art, reading, staying up on current events, and playing bridge and scrabble. She was an avid sports fan, especially baseball and the S.F. Giants.
Born in 1924 in Brooklyn, she lived with her family in Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan. She served in the Navy from 1943-1945 during WW II. In 1950, she married Harold Auerbach. They had four children, raising them in Morristown, N.J. In 1981, Doris and Hal moved out to Carmel, Calif., close to her late brother, Menko, and his family.
She is survived by family who adored her: sons Harold Jr. and William, and son-in-law Mauricio; four nieces, Dona, Jessica, Sally and Dori; three nephews, Ben, George and Rob; a sister, Helen; as well as many other relatives and friends. She was pre-deceased by her husband, her daughter, Rita, and youngest son, Jim.
