Cletis attended school in Stonewall and in 1945, went into to Army boot camp to become a rifleman. After the Army, he became a Heavy Equipment Operator in the Oilfield.
On April 1, 1948, Cletis married the love of his life, Martha Burch. They went on to have three children, Diana, Sharon, and Curtis.
Cletis enjoyed spending time with his family, working on engines, mowing the yard, collecting any kind of pen, loved any kind of old car, sitting outside, and working on Hester, his three wheeled hauler. His family will always remember his trips to Galveston, Texas and going to motor cycle rallies. He was an animal lover, easy going, always whistled and sang, and has even been mistaken for Chuck Connors.
Cletis is preceded in death by his wife Martha Turner, September 2018, son Curtis Turner, January 2021, his parents, and siblings.
Cletis is survived by daughter Diana Smith and husband Bobby, daughter Sharon Gunter and husband Kenneth, grandchildren Toni Whitmore, Jason Smith, Chloe Roby, Rikki Minor, Trisha Whitman, and Curtis Michael Turner, numerous great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held April 13, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee, Oklahoma with burial to follow at Resthaven.
