Thomas Joseph Reddy passed away peacefully on April 21, 2021. He was 92. Tom survived his wife of 51 years Gerri (DeRosa) Reddy, and is survived by his son Michael Reddy (Alyssa), and daughters Linda Reddy (Donna) and Diane Reddy (Ray) and seven grandchildren who adored him: Christian, Alex (Priyanka), Ryan, Rachael, Brooks, Ashley, and Cailyn. He also leaves behind a very special and wonderful companion for more than a decade, Betty Carney and her daughters Kelly Geary (Tim) and Maureen Carney.
Tom started his career as a skilled carpenter, earned a technical degree and went on to become a supervisor of commercial construction. The acclaimed Unitarian Meeting House in West Hartford was one of his favorite projects. Tom served in the Navy and relished his world travel, which he enjoyed throughout his life. He was a man of deep faith, devoted to the Catholic Church. Tom was an avid golfer and competed in tournaments in New England for many years. He loved deep sea fishing with his children and grandchildren. Tom cherished time with his family and many friends, loved cooking for others, and watching birds in his backyard. The most everlasting memory of Tom universally shared by his family and friends is his zest for life, unwavering positive outlook and generosity of spirit. His love was palpable and unconditional. He was encouraging and supportive of everyone in his life. There was no prouder Dad or Grandpa than Tom.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 – 6 p.m. on Monday (May 3rd) at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday (May 4th) at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church (St. Junipero Serra Parish), 673 Ellington Rd., South Windsor. Everyone is asked to please meet directly at the church. Interment with military honors will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.
