Mary Arnos (nee Tourlas),97, passed away on April 23, 2021 in the comfort and care of her loving family. She is survived by her loving daughters Valerie (Dr. Mark) Sawicki, Becky (Dimitri) Carrigan, and her adoring grandchildren John Walter, Constantin John, Mia Nicole, and Anathea Maria. Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, John, her parents William and Pagona Tourlas, and her four siblings Beatrice (the late Fred) Perkins, Jane (the late John) Gagomiros, Nicholas (the late Norma) Tourlas, and Thomas Tourlas (survived by Marlene Furman). She was a devoted aunt to many nieces and nephews and godmother to Joanne Gouletas.
Mary was the embodiment of a woman both of, and ahead of her time. Through nothing more than her natural abilities and hard work ethic, Mary had a successful business career, afforded opportunities for others, and contributed to the support of her family. For the next sixty years, Mary also devoted her life to her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. Her home was always a welcoming gathering place for family and friends, whether as a destination or a stopover on the way to and from St. Nicholas; the coffee was always on. May her memory be eternal.
A funeral service will be held at Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 2501 S. Wolf Rd, Westchester, IL on Thursday, April 29 at 10:00A.M. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church or St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church would be appreciated.
