Born October 3, 1938, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Carroll (Pop Pop Buzz) and Doris (DeeDee) Stansbury.
Nelson was a SeaBee in the US Naval Construction Battalion. He was a dedicated construction superintendent in the Baltimore region before retiring to South Carolina. Nelson was a sports fan who loved to follow his beloved Baltimore Orioles and Ravens and enjoyed playing golf. He was also an avid woodworking enthusiast and a passionate foodie. There was nothing Nelson enjoyed more than enjoying a crab feast with his family.
Nelson was married for 58 years to the love of his life, Linda A. Clark Stansbury. She preceded him in death by 244 days.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-laws, Nelson and Emily Stansbury (Texas); Kevin and Tracy Stansbury (Maryland); grandchildren Amanda Stansbury and Ryan Stansbury (Texas); brother Melvin Stansbury (Tennessee); nieces Ellen Waudby (Maryland); Donna Engel (Maryland); Terri McMunn (Florida); and nephew Steve Wineke (Maryland). Nelson was preceded in death by his nephew Michael Stansbury.
Services will be held at a later date in Maryland. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
