Our mom was loved by many. She was like a second mom to our friends growing up and always had an ear to lend. She was also a therapist and counsellor to her nieces, always there with comforting words and a warm hug. She loved and protected her children and family with a fierce loving heart and took no guff from those who would cross them. She worried when we travelled and I don't think she unclenched until we called from home telling her that we were safe. Nothing pleased her more than spending time with family and friends. She welcomed all new additions to the family. Shane had barely just met my parents when he was forced to spend an evening alone with them while Shawna attended her friends stagette party. Mom brought out all her photo albums and gave him a cold beer to take the edge off and made him feel like he was part of the family. She loved watching sports, especially her Riders. Once during a good game she used the key fob on her car keys to honk the horn when the riders scored to make sure the neighbours didn't miss it. The only thing she maybe enjoyed more was watching her grandkids play baseball. We remember nightcaps with mom when it was just you and her, one on one, and everyone else had gone to bed. Those were the best conversations because they were the most honest and real. We recall many fond memories of trips to White Bear and Kenosee Lake playing cards and board games, talking and making Mom laugh so hard that the tears would run from her face. She travelled all over for Paul's hockey games and enjoyed every minute of the games and becoming friends with the other families. When she worked at Larsens Construction, where she spent most of her career, both of us had the privilege to work with her there, Shawna in the office and Paul in the yard and on job sites. Cody, Kayla, Luke and James, her grandchildren, have many fond memories like visiting Weyburn in the summer and going to Kenosee waterslides, Weyburn fair and parade, petting zoo and trips to the dollar store. Mom thank you for the years with you, the laughs we shared, the comfort you gave, and the love we will always have. Good-bye mom, we love you. Your children, Paul and Shawna.
