It is with tremendous grief I have to report that my sweetie Krista passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Saturday, June 5, 2021. Despite the valiant efforts of the EHS staff she died at home of a cardiac arrest. She was only 53.
Never defined by the work she got paid for, Krista was truly accomplished on many fronts. She saw the world with such clarity seeing things the rest of us didn’t. She could look at any 3-dimensional project and come up with a wonderful fusion of beauty and function. Educated in Fine Arts, Krista had many interests and was known by various circles of friends as a creator of art in any material, a curious gardener, an able-bodied sailor, a dog fanatic and a fervent critic on social justice.
Most importantly to me, Paul Rafuse, she was my life partner and I loved her desperately. Krista is also survived by her loving siblings Karen and Scott (Kelly), her nieces Maeve, Kate, Julia and Clare, her nephew Rocco, her stepchildren Erin (Trevor) and Ben (Breanna) and her canine companion Max. Many close friends are also deeply saddened to see her go so suddenly. She was pre-deceased by her devoted parents Robert and Elaine.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will occur at a time which allows an adequate gathering of everyone who was close to her.
Krista had many cares and concerns for this world. A donation to Feed Nova Scotia https://www.feednovascotia.ca would be welcome; she felt strongly about people having secure food sources. Or perhaps adopt a child through Plan Canada International https://plancanada.ca. She had several.
