David Henry Villarreal passed away in his sleep Tuesday morning, July 6, 2021 from natural causes to be with Jesus in heaven. David will be greatly missed by many loved ones. David was a hard worker and always wanted to please. David cared greatly about the welfare of his family and would do anything for them. David was born April 28, 1945 in Victoria, Texas to David Henry Villarreal and Juanita (Janie) Hernandez. David moved to Lubbock, Texas and later to Austin, Texas where he worked as a professional painter and barber all his adult life. David spent his last days painting his family’s house where he was staying for the last two months of his life since his companion, Sandra Lowenstein of 18 years recently passed away on April 24, 2021 of heart failure as a result of heart surgery.
David leaves behind his son, David Henry Villarreal; grandson, David (Davy) Henry Rice; Davy’s mother, Lynn Anne Rice; granddaughter, Brittany Jaramillo; former wife, Dorothy Villarreal; brothers and sisters, Patsy Ponce and husband Domingo Ponce, Julia Rocha and late husband Carlos Rocha, Gloria Govea and husband Albert Govea, Anna Dominguez and late husband Juan; Pedro Padilla and Eliseo Padilla; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death are his mother and father, Juanita Hernandez and David Henry Villarreal and step-father Delfino Hernandez.
The family thanks you for joining them for this time of praising God for David’s life in Christ Jesus. In the months ahead, please remember the Villarreal family with notes, phone calls, cards, gifts, and particularly prayer. Please ask God for healing in the midst of pain and faith in the midst of struggle. For even as we mourn David’s death, we draw strength from God’s promise of eternal life with Jesus.
