Born November 30, 1940 in Lakewood, Ohio to Glenn Allen Wright and Marjorie Grace Ruff, Bill grew up in Sullivan, Ohio surrounded by five sisters. Bill was married to Carol Anne Worcester at the Sullivan Christian Church in 1959 and had three children, Dave, Mike and Cheri. In 1975, the family moved to Canon City, Colorado and spent a lot of time enjoying the mountains. Bill and Carol moved back to their roots in Sullivan, Ohio in 1994.
Bill loved to farm and was at his happiest on his tractor in the field behind his Sullivan house making hay. He was very proud of his beautiful home and his restored ’72 red pick-up truck.
Bill loved to help others and was constantly doing good deeds for his friends. He’ll be remembered for his sense of humor, his kind heart, his love of tractors and classic cars, his generosity, and his amazing hugs.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Judith (Judy) Ann Gott, Barbara (Barb) Jane Ellis, and Marjorie (Maggie) Skaggs. He is survived by his ex-wife and friend, Carol Anne Wright, his children, David (Dave) A. Wright and wife Chris, Michael (Mike) D. Wright and wife Dawn, Cheryl (Cheri) L. Wright, his grandchildren Stephanie Shepherd Jenkins and her husband Kyle Jackson Jenkins, Heather Danielle Wright and Aimee Boyer as well as three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his younger sisters Susan (Susie) Jean Barath, Glenda June Griego, his Brothers-in-law Randy Barath and Ernie Worcester, Sisters-in-law Thelma Lea White and Gale Eliza Cooley and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly (although he is still waiting for his nephew Eric to finish painting the dang fence)!
Bill genuinely loved his Willowvale Farms work family and his children are incredibly grateful for the love and support they have provided.
In his final months, when Parkinson’s Disease took so much from him, he lived with his daughter and Carol in Colorado and enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter Stephanie and her husband Kyle. He allowed them to show him a small measure of the love and service he had long showed all of his extended family and friends and he was cared for with dignity, love and compassion.
The family wishes to invite Bill’s friends and family to a celebration of life on Saturday, July 31, 4:00 p.m. at the Willowvale Pavillion on New London Eastern Road in Spencer, OH. For directions or questions, contact 419-651-7461 or 508-740-9467.
