Mr. Boynton was born October 23, 1927 in Woodbridge, New Jersey, to the late Ware and May Westergard Boynton.
Gorham was a very positive person. He was a storyteller that was able to encourage many with his quick wit and a word fitly spoken at just the right time. It was because of this talent people were drawn to him. He was a member of Shandon Baptist Church where he was very active in his Sunday School Class. Gorham was a lifelong learner and was a teacher of the Bible for many years. He will be remembered most for his love of family and friends. It was very important to him to spend time with his family going on mountain trips, sharing meals, and being with them during the holidays especially on Christmas. We will all miss him and are comforted to know he is with his savior, Jesus Christ.
Survivors, include his wife of 41 years, Twila Boynton; children, John Gorham Boynton (Janet), Robert Boynton (Holly), Kathryn Pittman (Mark), Mary Ellen Hembree, Cindy Royson (Bobby), William Gordon Rentz (Shannon), Andrea Thurber (Scott); thirty five grandchildren; and twenty one great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Rice Estates for their care of Gorham over the last six months.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shandon Baptist Church or to the Ronald McDonald House.
