82. After several months of declining health, Philip died peacefully with his beloved wife Carol
by his side.
Philip was born in Freeport, New York on November 1, 1938 to father John Charles Fox and
Catherine Dorothy Helm Fox. He was their only child. He attended Iona College in which he
held a Bachelor of Business.
Phil relocated to Buffalo, New York after graduation and worked for INA Insurance as a “special
agent”. He was most proud of that position. While living in Buffalo, he became a season ticket
holder to both the Buffalo Sabres NHL and the Buffalo Bill NFL teams. That began his lifelong
love for, anything, buffalo. In his late twenties, while aboard a windjammer cruise in the
Bahamas, he fell in love with Carol Ann Lisowski. The two married and welcomed their daughter
Julia Ann Fox and son John Brian Fox.
Though Phil grew up on Long Island, he found pleasure in nature. He was an avid hunter and
enjoyed skiing and boating. Phil was an enthusiastic coin collector; his most prized collection
was the buffalo head nickels.
His greatest accomplishments were being a supportive husband, father and grandfather.
Philip is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ann Fox, his children Julia Ann Fox and John Brian
Fox and his grandchildren: Philip James Tobin, Sarah Elizabeth Tobin, Cecilia Ann Tobin,
Meghan Catherine Fox and Shawn Howard Fox.
A visitation for Philip is planned for Monday, October 11, 2021 from 9:00-10:30 am at Fero
Funeral Home is Beverly Hills, Florida. An 11:00 am mass will follow at Saint Scholastica
Church. All are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Saint Joseph’s Indian School or Saint
Labre Indian School, www.stjo.org or www.stlabre.org.
