Marshall was born on November 23, 1974, in St. Louis City Missouri to Cathrine A. Gulley & Marshall Wright. He joined the military in 1996 and served for about twenty-one years before retiring as a Staff Sergeant in 2017. He is the recipient of several military awards including Iraq campaign medal with five campaign stars, Army Commendation Medal third award, Army Achievement Medal (fifth award), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Valorous Unit Award, Army Good Conduct (sixth award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (second award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (third award), Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Ranger Tab, and the Parachutist Badge.
Marshall Gulley is survived by his four children including three boys and one girl. The boys from oldest to youngest are Ameer J Gulley, Shaquari Z Gulley, Jah R Gulley, and his one daughter Sierra N Gulley. He also leaves behind two sisters including Carmen Wright and Jammie A Bell.
