Ann Abercrombie was a retired librarian and worked in the Orlando, Florida and Huntington, West Virginia school systems for over 25 years. She was a graduate of West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in library science and received her master’s degree in history from Marshall University in West Virginia. She was a member of the Unitarian Church in Ormond Beach, Florida.
She had a deep appreciation of history and learning about new cultures. She traveled all over the world seeing new and exciting places which allowed her to learn about the world and all of its beauty. Along with her love of travel, she was an excellent ballroom dancer and enjoyed dancing up into her 80’s. In her later years she enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean and Mexico accompanied by her two loving children. She was also a master duplicate bridge player and competed in tournaments in the United States and Europe.
Despite the many places she visited, her favorite place was sitting on the balcony of her condo looking at the Halifax River or the Atlantic Ocean. She would sit on her balcony with her favorite dogs Sadie and Sunny, which brought her tremendous joy and love in her life. Her family is so grateful that she was able to experience this joy up until the last few months of her life. She was blessed with a long and healthy life, and her family was blessed to have their dear mother for many wonderful years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Abercrombie who was a retired engineer from NASA and a Merchant Marine.
Ann is survived by her loving children Robert Franklin Dodrill Sr. and wife Barbara of Orlando, Florida and Deborah Bryant Onan and her husband Dr. William Onan of Henderson, Kentucky.

The family would like to say a special thank you to all the wonderful nurses and caregivers at Advent Health Hospital Hospice in Orlando, Florida. We will always remember the loving care you provided for our mother at the end of her life and what a special blessing you were to all of us.
