Jimmy was the son of the late James H. Potter and Ardelia Potter. Those left to cherish Jimmy’s memory, include his beloved daughter, Brittany Potter (Mark Blassingame) and precious grandson, Miller Blassingame. He is also survived by his big sister and forever friend, Linda (Roger) Medlin, as well as nieces Tracy and Heather Robinson and great-niece, Madelyne Carr. He will be deeply missed by many, especially by his devoted and loving friend, Dianne Chapman.
Jimmy was a Chattanooga native and a 1977 graduate of Hixson High School, born December 31, 1959. He was a dedicated, hardworking employee of Propex (formerly Fibron/ Synthetic Industries) for over 35 years. Jimmy had a kind and gentle spirit and loved his family fiercely. He was a proud father and loving Grandpa. Some of his fondest memories were the times he spent at the softball field, traveling to out of town games, and cheering on Brittany.
Jimmy is known for his deep love of music. He felt it in his soul and enjoyed cranking it up loud. He was a big-hearted guy’s guy, who had a love for cars. He had a charming wit and strong sense of adventure. He was a thrill-seeker at heart, especially in his younger years, and loved riding dirt bikes and rollercoasters, shooting fireworks and watching scary movies. The summer was his favorite time of year- boating, skiing, sunbathing, and family beach trips. In recent years, he prided himself on his manicured lawn and beautiful flower garden.
A Celebration of Jimmy’s Life will be held at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 2PM, with Minister Debbie Stokes officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service, from 11AM-2PM. We respectfully request masks are worn.
