COLUMBIA - A funeral service for SFC Joseph Benzin, 72, will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with a reception following the service. Burial with full military honors in Fort Jackson National Cemetery will be held at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the funeral home.
Mr. Benzin passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021. Born in Bartow, Fla., he was a son of the late Manuel Vigas Benzin and Juanita Cochran Benzin. He retired from the U.S. Army after 30 years of service.
Surviving are his sons, Arthur Benzin (Sabrina) of Blythewood, SC, and Tony Benzin (Alexus) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, David Benzin, Jonathan Benzin, Colin Benzin, and Caden Benzin; brother, Charles Benzin (Shirley) of Phenix City, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Yong Ae Benzin.
