Donald Colvin Jackson, 88, was born September 28, 1933, in Irvington, Alabama, to the late Brack Edward and Lottie Martha Trehern Jackson. Called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Donald passed on November 16, 2021, in Mobile, Alabama. Donald graduated from Murphy High School, served in the air force, retired from thirty-plus years at International paper Company, went on to get an HVAC certification and had his own business in Saraland for many years. He went to Liberty University and received a Theology degree. He was involved in many civic and fraternal organizations. He was a mason for sixty-four-plus years, was very active in the lost chords club and the American cancer Society. He was active in the Woodmen of the World and the Gideon's. He loved his church, Saraland Baptist, and would serve in any capacity he could. Donald loved to build things and to do oil paintings. He was always one who loved a good joke and could not wait to share one with anyone who would listen.
Preceding Donald in death was his parents, his, loving wife, Elizabeth Jones Jackson, one brother, Randolph Jackson, one sister, Tressa Murphy, along with other loving brother’s and sister’s-in-law.
Left to cherish Donald’s wonderful memories will be his daughter, Martha Jackson Gibson, one grandson, Joshua Bryan (Felicia) Burroughs, one granddaughter, Emily Renee (Joe) Woodham, six great grandsons: Tristan Alexander Burroughs, Tyler Gabriel Burroughs, Taylor Mitchel Hendrickson, Aaron Allen Hendrickson, Andrew Colvin Hendrickson, Joshua Cruz Burroughs, two loving brothers: Herman Eugene (Mary) Jackson, Joseph Dudley (Gena) Jackson, one brother-in-law, John (Millie) Jones, one sister-in-law, Frances Nita Jones, along with many loving nephews, nieces, extended family members and numerous wonderful friends.
Honoring Donald as pallbearers will be Joshua Burroughs, Tristan Burroughs, Tyler Burroughs, Taylor Hendrickson, Andrew Hendrickson, Aaron Hendrickson, and Cruz Burroughs. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Davis, Donald Owen, Eugene Henderson, and Charles Burris.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Saraland Baptist Church, the Lost Chords Club, the Gideons or the American Cancer Society.
A Celebration of Life service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, November 19, 2021, at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Parkway, Saraland, Alabama 36571 with Bro. Todd Richardson officiating. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Pine Crest Cemetery, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, Alabama, 36605.
The family will be receiving guests for visitation on Friday, November 19, 2021, at Radney Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until time of service at 10:00 AM.
