With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Madeline Mazza Brommer, with family by her side on November 19, 2021, in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all whose lives she touched. She suffered with a brief illness and was 87 years old. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Madeline attended Andrew Jackson High School graduating in 1951. Before starting her family, she worked briefly for Southern Bell and returned to work many years later working for her brother James Mazza’s company, Consumer Refrigeration.
Madeline was preceded in death by her granddaughter Hannah Brommer, her sister Dolores Gamble and brothers Joseph Mazza and John Mazza. Madeline is survived by her husband William H. Brommer Jr.; children, William H. Brommer III (Karen), Bruce Brommer (Cindy), Susan Swann (Ernie), Jeffrey Brommer (Beth); grandchildren Kelli Hargett (Stephen), Brittany Monds (Jonathan), Kyle McBride and Shelby Denney (Zach); great grandchildren Layton, Landry and Larimore Hargett and Collin, Declan and Maren Monds; brother James Mazza (Shirley), as well as many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road N, Jacksonville, 32225 on Wednesday, November 24. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. with service following at 12 pm. The burial service will take place in Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, 32218 at 2:30pm.
