Gary W. Delp, beloved husband, father and brother, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2021 in Mead, Colorado. He was born on November 7, 1948 in Elkton, Maryland to the late Edwin and Maxine (Mabe) Delp.
Gary proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. After discharge from the military, he moved to Arkansas where he met and married his devoted wife, Betty. They were married in Booneville, Arkansas on August 3, 1974. Gary had a joyful spirit and was always ready to share a laugh. Gary worked as a handyman and dedicated his life to family and faith. He raised two daughters with Betty and served as the treasurer for his church, Burnville Baptist, in Greenwood, Arkansas.
Gary is survived by his wife, Betty (Underwood) Delp, his loving children Amy Mendez and her husband Hugo of Mead, Colorado, Angela Fennell and her husband David of Thornton, Colorado; siblings, Nancy Holland of Alma, Arkansas, Jim Delp and his wife Judy of Lompoc, California and Pauline Dixon of Conowingo, Maryland as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his beloved brother-in-law, Charles Dixon.
The family will soon announce a memorial service to be held in Arkansas in March of 2022. Gary’s ashes will be interred after the memorial.
