Beatrice Venable Bennett, 84, of Port Arthur born to Viola Hebert Venable and Dallas Venable on September 4, 1925, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010, at her residence in Port Arthur with her loving family at her side.
Beatrice was affectionately called Mom, Granny, Bea, Be-At, Aunt Bea, Granny Bea, Nanny, NaNan and by her youngest great grandkids, simply Be-Be.
She spent her life in Port Arthur where the only thing that she ever cared about was the love that she gave to and received from her family. She really had no other outside interests; there is not a list of organizations that she belonged to or awards she received only a list of loving memories she has left for her family to cherish. She found deep appreciation for beauty in the simplest things; a cardinal in the backyard, a small flower blooming or the laughter of a baby.
Survivors include her daughters, Phyllis Wood of Port Arthur; Monica Barnett and her husband Mike of Port Neches; five grandchildren, Stephanie Heil of Houston, Robert Wood III of Kirbyville, Damian Bennett of Beaumont, Jonathan Barnett and wife Jennifer of Port Neches and Jessica Barnett and her husband Todd McManus of Port Neches; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Viola Hebert, husband, Willie “Hoss” Bennett, son, Michael Lynn Bennett; her infant son, Gregory Matthew Bennett; brother, Gerald Venable and sister, Billye Joyce Spears.
