MACON – Eleanor Jean Blackerby Amos, 75, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at a local hospital. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Willie C. Gordon will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Amos, daughter of the late Robert Andrew and Lillie Watson Coxwell Blackerby, was born in Red Level, AL and had lived in Macon most of her life. She worked as Postal Window Service Clerk with the U. S. Postal Service retiring after thirty years. Mrs. Amos was a member of Bloomfield Gardens Baptist Church and was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. She was a devoted and loving homemaker whose family was always first in her heart.
She is survived by those she loved most….her family, her husband, Carlton Amos, Sr. of Macon; her four sons, Carlton “Bunny” M. Amos, Jr. of Macon, James Vernon (Andrea) Amos, Sr. of Byron, Alan Craig (Tanya) Amos of Warner Robins and Adam Earl (Kimberly) Amos of Macon; her beloved grandchildren, Alecia Moore, Jennifer Snellgrove, James “Jimbo” Amos, Jr., Macy Amos, Annabelle Amos, Austin Amos and Patience Amos; five adorable great grandchildren; her brother and sister, Robert Blackerby and Margie McCord Strole and numerous nieces and nephews.
Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery has charge of arrangements.
