Tommy D. Adcox, 76, of Hixson, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 27, 2011. Born in Coalfield, Tennessee and he graduated from Coalfield High School in 1952. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army. Mr. Adcox was sales manager for Herb Adcox Chevrolet for over 60 years. He enjoyed attending car auctions in Nashville, Atlanta and Birmingham every week.
Preceded in death by parents, Lloyd and Cecil Ruffner Adcox; three brothers, James Adcox, Dean Adcox and Raymond Adcox; nephew, Grant Adcox.
Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Katherine Walls Adcox; daughter Teresa and Buddy Trammell of Knoxville, Tennessee; son, Ken Adcox and Jim Bass of Alpharetta, Georgia; five precious grandchildren, Aaron, Katie, Kristin, Kathryn and Linda; brother Herb and Jean Adcox of Chattanooga; sister, Sandra Young; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 1 P.M. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Oliver Springs, Tennessee with Rev. Garvin Walls officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Smith, Jerry Smith, E.W. Haney, Clifford McCabe, Bill Camden and Mike Thomason. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel in Hixson and on Thursday from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs, Tennessee.
