A graduate from Grundy High in Grundy, VA. She worked hard her whole life as a Phone Operator, first retiring from Jax. Shipyards and then her final retirement with Memorial Hospital.
She was predeceased by her late husband Raymond L. Adkins. She is survived by her son and step-daughter Donald and Brenda Looney, and loved by her 8 grandchildren, Keith and Sherri Looney, Melisha Walton, John and Courtney Hohl, Ryan and Jenny Hohl, and Carolyn Carr, and by her 14 great grandchildren. But no one loved her more than the one she called "My lil baby" Darlene Carr age 5.
Her memory will also live on through the many friends she has made throughout her life, Susan Mason, Susan Lee, and Linda Hooper are a few to name. And a special Thanks to Riverwood, Doctor Ira Harmon and Community Hospice for taking wonderful care of her in her time of need. We would also like to thank Doctor Gary Decker who has been her doctor for many years.
A Graveside service will be held at 10am, Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd. N. Jacksonville.
