Charles Harrison Arp, Jr., 86, of Red Bank, passed peacefully into his Savior’s arms on Monday, October 10, 2011 at his home. He was born in Lenior City, TN, son of the late Martha McElyea and Charles Harrison Arp, Sr.
Charles was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Air Force as navigator of a B-17. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy at University of Tennessee and was the owner of Arp’s Pharmacy in Red Bank for 39 years. He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church since 1952 and a member of the Men’s Fellowship Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Louise and Bernise Cusick.
Survivors are his wife of 66 years, Margaret (Jenny) Arp; sons, Ronnie (Janie) Arp of Soddy Daisy, Barry (Becky) Arp of Hixson, and Alan (Angela) Arp of Johnson City; five grandchildren, Ronnie Arp, Kaley Mounce, Dr. Nathan Arp, Allison Centamore and Lauren Arp and nine great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 12 with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Fred Steelman and Rev. Bill Harvey officiating. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 13 at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Members of the Men’s Fellowship Sunday School Class at Red Bank Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
