It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of John Francis Nicholson in his 79th year. Born on Dec 22nd, 1932, to John Angus and Catherine (Campbell) Nicholson, he lived all his life as a dairy farmer in West Mabou. He is survived by his wife, Jessie (MacLellan), and his children; Donald (Elaine), Darrell (Laureen), Dean and Debra; as well as his beloved grandchildren; Joey, Jordan, Erin and Jessica. He is also survived by sisters, Mae MacLean, Niagara Falls, Ont.; Tena MacInnis, Flin Flon, Manitoba.; brother, Alex Joseph, St. Catherine’s , Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Elizabeth, Margaret, Theresa, Julia, Mary Ann and brothers, Roddie, Jimmy, Angus, Michael, and Roderick in infancy. He was a devoted father, husband, grandfather, and brother dedicated to the Catholic faith, and we will miss him tremendously. Visitation will be held in the Vestry of St. Mary’s Church, Mabou on Friday, February 3, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held in St. Mary’s Church, Mabou on Saturday, February 4 at 11 a.m. Fr. Angus Morris officiating. Burial at a later date in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery Fund, Mabou or to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society.
