He was a retired test foreman with Magnavox after 40 years of service.
He loved the outdoors, fishing, and hunting in his early years.
Survivors include his wife: Barbara Houston Arwood; step-son: Randy Houston of Greeneville; two step daughters and step sons-in-law: Sharon and Rick Johnson of Afton, Debbie and Bobby Ottinger of Chuckey; grandchildren: Brian and Krystal Arwood of Greeneville, Samantha Arwood of West Virginia, and Candice Henderson of Greeneville; great grandchildren: Brendon Arwood, Parks Arwood, Khloe Henderson, Mason Henderson, Jameson Patterson, Alyssa Patterson, and Landon Patterson; sister and brother-in-law: Jerrie and Gene Brown; mother-in-law: Ina B. Cutshall of Greeneville; brothers-in-law and spouses: Charles Broyles, Guy and Mary Broyles, and Jerry and Starr Broyles of Greeneville, and Terry and Gina Broyles of Kentucky; sisters-in-law and spouses: Phyllis and Vitold Dewicki of Michigan, Nancy and Ronnie Rice of Bulls Gap, Becky and Jimmy Lane, Fredna and Tim Peterson and Karen and Pete Large of Mosheim ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late Mack H. and Mildred Horner Arwood and was preceded in death by two sons: Danny “Butch” Arwood and Bobby Joe Arwood; one brother: John Arwood; and four sisters: Lois Ellenburg, Mable Starnes, Katherine Rudder, and Charlotte Shiffett.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home preceding the service at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Roger Crim, Tim Rudder, and Harold Cornett will officiate.
His pallbearers will be Brian Arwood, Jim Ellenburg, Tim Rudder, Ken Brown, Gary Kirk, Ray Ellenburg, Harold Cornett, and Wesley Kincaid.
Charles Broyles, Guy Broyles, Jerry Broyles, Terry Broyles, Duke Bowman, and Johnny Bowman will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the committal service.
