Dale H. Bennett, 94, passed away July 27, 2012. Funeral services will be Monday, July 30, 2012 at 2 p.m. at McGilley & Hoge Chapel followed by burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday, July 30, at McGilley & Hoge Chapel from 1 until 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Hospice and Toys for Tots. Dale Howard Bennett was born Oct. 8. 1917 to Rollo J. and Jessie (Howie) Bennett in Creston, IA. He attended school in Creston and graduated from Afton High School in 1938. He moved to the Kansas City area in 1939. Dale married Alliene Louisa Gilpin on Aug. 29, 1941. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Naval Construction 45th Battalion (Seabees) from 1942 to 1945. After the service tour, he joined the Pipefitters Local 533 in October 1947 and worked as a pipefitter for 35 years. Dale enjoyed activities with family and friends. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Overland Park, KS for many years. After moving to Kansas City, MO, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of North Kansas City. Dale is survived by wife, Alliene, daughters Sharon (Mike) Petty of Chicago, IL, Sandy Bennett (Les Davis) of Marshalltown, IA, Gayle (Bill) Bennett-Grant of Parkville, MO, granddaughter Kim Petty of Chicago, IL, brother Darrel Bennett of Mountain Home, AR, three nephews, three great- nieces, and six great-nephews, special 'children' Dick and Pat Maack of Overland Park, KS and cousins Nancy Taylor and Betty Hohnecke in Iowa. The family wishes to thank the staff at Wexford Place, the staff at Focus HealthCare Solutions and the staff at St. Luke's Hospice for the love, care and concern given to our husband and dad.
