Alvin Albert , thirteenth child of Henrietta Henniger and Charles Albert was born on Nov. 30, 1917 and died at the age of 94 on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012. He was of German heritage being born at Rosebud, Falls County Texas. He will be remembered as a caring, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents Herietta and Charles Albert, loving wife Sarah Sarao Albert, brothers Harry, Edward, Mike, Willie, Lee, and Charlie. Also he was predeceased by sisters Laura, Hattie, Lola, Flora, Elsie, Alice, Edna, Odelia, and Olivia. He is survived by children Alvin Joseph (Linda), Mary Lou Albert Paulsel (John), Kathy Albert, Lisa Albert Bean. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Chris Paulsel, David Paulsel, Michelle Paulsel Morris, Kimberly Paulsel, Letitia Albert Stryk, Melissa Albert Murphy, Amy Poland, Jason Poland, Sarah Bean, Marie Bean, and Virginia Bean. Great grandchildren include Rebecca and Rachel Paulsel, Brian and Molly Morris, Luke Bean; sister in-law Theresa Sarao Welborn and brother in-law Lewis Sarao. Alvin enjoyed hunting well into his 90s, fishing, gardening, beekeeping and raising poultry. He grew delicious citrus and pecan crops. He was a devoted and loyal member of IBEW Local 66 and a 40 year employee of Houston Lighting and Power Company. He was a devoted Catholic and charter member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Church activities included the Men's Club and the Gathering Place where he enjoyed bingo, hot meals, and fellowship. Alvin was a veteran of WWII and proud of being a Navy Seabee. He was stationed on Midway Island till the end of the war.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, Oct. 19, from 6-8 pm with rosary beginning at 7 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 20 at 2 pm, St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 501 Tidwell Rd, Houston, TX 77022 with a committal service to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Ave, Houston.
