Butch is survived by his wife and best friend, Wanda of North Topsail Beach, his sons Tripp Madden (wife Cate), Scott Madden (wife Lesley), Keith Madden (wife Kim), stepsons Ricky Poole and Chris Poole (wife Alesha). The grandchildren who were so dear to him, Tyler, Cal, Hank, Reagan and Max, and his former wife and mother of his three sons, Doss Madden. Special nephews Tom and Glenn Spearing.
He was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Edna Madden and his sister, Beverly Spearing.
Butch retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent after a 37-year career. He loved his work with The Bureau and made many special friends. He enjoyed keeping up with his former colleagues in his retirement, especially Vic Holdren and Ira Holland.
In his spare time, Butch enjoyed fishing, coaching youth sports, college basketball, The Phillies and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
A visitation with the family will be at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC on Tuesday, October 30 from 5 pm–8 pm.
A Private Memorial Service will be held on the Beach at a later date.
