Jim was born in Reno NV and as a child grew up in the small town of Spring Garden, CA where he was surrounded by mountains and beautiful springs. As a son of a dairy and cattle rancher, Jim embraced a hard working ethic at an early age that he carried with him all his life. He worked for A. Teichert & Son for 32 years and after retirement, he took on the role of handy man to manage his various properties. He was always busy doing something. One of his passions was to tinker and rebuild “muscle” cars. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin where his dogs would accompany him on long early morning walks in mountainous terrain. He also enjoyed working along side his wife and riding around on his tractor while maintaining their ranch. One of the most important joys of Jim’s life was his grandson, Alex. Jim considered himself a lucky man to have had the opportunity to spend so much quality time and to pass on his knowledge of many things with his grandson.
Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara, and two daughters Delisa Barr and Jana Smuin, Son-in-laws, Rick Barr and Mike Smuin, loving grandson, Alex Barr, and a brother, Raymond Avilla, and the late Gloria Wilson.
Family and friends are invited to join together at Reichert’s Funeral home, Citrus Heights, on Thursday, 12/27/12, at 11 AM.
Family and friends are invited to gather after the service at Jim’s daughter’s home (Delisa Barr) to celebrate Jim’s life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Placer SPCA or Sutter Care at Home (Hospice).
